Appearance counts everywhere…
Even at your work environment !!!
Men and women are not judged in the same way when seeking for a job, scientists say.
They concluded that appearance in females counts!
Many attempts have been made and are made to eliminate discrimination against women in the professional arena. However, as a research published by the journal «Computers in Human Behavior», things are not going so well and the elimination of such stereotypes from our way of thinking is ultimately more difficult than was expected.
Researchers from the University of the West of Scotland and the Glasgow Caledonian University asked 29 men and 41 women to study some Facebook profiles and evaluate the persons to which they relate as potential candidates for a job.
While, the participants were studying the above social network profiles, the researchers were analysing the movements of their eyes using a special technology.
IWhat researchers concluded was that when participants were looking at female candidates profiles, their eyes remained more time to their photos, and when they saw the male candidates profiles tended to spend more time on the content of their messages. In other words, it appeared that participants were more likely to judge women based on their looks, while in the case of men they were focused on a deeper social media behaviour.
In fact, this participants behaviour was common to both males and female participants.
